Today we wrote 2 alternate prompts based on the story. We got to choose between 5 prompts and write a narrative based on it. I did one about the daughter's perspective and one about a letter from the guy who betrayed the family. I learned that writing is fun.

Today we did an assignment based on the story. We had to answer some questions about what we thought certain things meant in the story. I learned interpretation is a vast thing.

Today we began reading a story in class. It was a short story that we read individually. I learned that stories can take very dark turns fast. 

Today we took a pop quiz. Many did not complete their paragraphs from Thursday so they were allowed to work on it afterwards. I learned how to source information.

Today we wrote a paragraph for each prompt. We took whichever side we wanted and wrote a paragraph but most did not finish. I learned how to articulate paragraphs to express what I needed.

Today we provided evidence for our claims. We took two of the claims from the day prior and read articles about them and provided evidence. We quoted the articles and did this for both sides of the prompts.

Today we created claims for and opposing certain prompts. We had 10 prompts to do this for. We did the assignment on Google docs.

We went over an article and looked for claims. We find a claim and identify what kind of claim it is and make an argument against it. We did 2 as a class and the rest alone.

Today Mr Rease was not here. we had to do another newsela about how hitting snooze increases cognition. I learned that people who snooze have better cognition in the morning. This is supported by evidence from scientist doing many test.

Today we did a newsela. This is where we read an article and answer some questions. I learned there are many takes on artificial intelligence and that some believe the old generations worries are just from the work they did. 

Today we did the essay part of the benchmark. This essay was about the second bill of rights. I finished but felt very unsure about my writing.

Today we started a benchmark test. This test had 4 long response and 16 multiple choice questions. I finished most of the test but my chromebook died.

Today we went over the poem "we real cool".The poem was about how things that are cool are not usually good and might have you die sooner then later. I learned jazz back then was a sexual term. 

Today we finished our poems. We then made a jamboard with all of our poems on it. This includes 5 images relating to it and the poem. I learned chromebooks die and culture can be anything.

Today we took the Langston Hughes test in benchmark. After this we worked on our jamboard poems. I was scared for the test but breezed through it and found it actually pretty east. I learned I know more than I think.
